Camp Grounds General Comments
Ok, I got way behind on the campsite stuff. And I do not intend to try to catch up now.
One observation: The Provencial Campgrounds in Canada have proven disappointing for me. They are great, and they are plentiful - but only for short or mid length motorhomes and travel trailers. Apparently the Canadians are more prudent with their purchases, and have smaller rigs, generally.
Those of us that have longer rigs (mine is 38 ft.) find it very difficult to get into many of the PCGs. One case a few nights ago I pulled into a "drive-through" loop site. I got wedged in, but could not pull all the way around the bend. I had a clearance of a couple inches on both sides to tree trunks, and I was afraid to level, or to chance overnight airbag settling, so I wiggled myself backward, after unhitching the tow car, and did not even spend the night.
In others I simple drove the loop and left. Some also have a major problem with overhead clearance. I have scrapped my "stuff" on the roof, including a $5000.00 satellite system, too many times.
So by all eas go to Canada, go to Alaska, but expect to pay a premium at commercial campgrounds if you have a larger rig.
